HSA Tax Form 1099-SA coming in January
This form shows your HSA distributions in 2021. It includes what you paid for with your PayFlex Card®, payments to health care providers and amounts paid to you from your HSA. We’ll post your 1099-SA online by the end of January 2022. We’ll also send a copy to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). You’ll use the form to complete the IRS Form 8889 when you file your federal tax return.

You may want to consult your own tax advisor about the tax reporting requirements for your HSA. PayFlex cannot give you tax or legal advice.

HSAs for your family members
If you have adult children (under age 26) who are covered by your high-deductible health plan and not a tax dependent, they may be eligible to open an HSA with PayFlex. They could contribute up to the family contribution limit (set by the Internal Revenue Service) to their own HSA.

If you’re under age 26, covered by your parent’s high-deductible health plan and not a tax dependent, you may be eligible to open an HSA with PayFlex. You could contribute up to the family contribution limit to the HSA.

If you have a spouse (age 55 or older) who is covered by your high-deductible health plan, they may be eligible to open an HSA with PayFlex. They could contribute up to $1,000 to their own HSA. If they have another HSA, they can roll those funds over to a PayFlex HSA.

If you have a partner who is covered by your high-deductible health plan, they may be eligible to open an HSA with PayFlex. Your partner can contribute up to the IRS family contribution limit. Also, if your partner is age 55 or older, they can contribute another $1,000 to their HSA.
